• Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the UF Football complex, is the 12th largest college football stadium as it seats 88,548.
• The nickname the “The Swamp” was given to Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium by former UF Football coach Steve Spurrier who noted “only Gators get out alive.”
• Gator football has 106-year history that includes eight SEC championships, three national championships, and three Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks.
• Freshmen used to be given rat caps to wear at the start of their first year. Students wearing these caps were not allowed to cross the Plaza of the Americas and instead had to walk around.
